Building Healthy Communities
The purpose of this series is to inform interested stakeholders about building healthier communities as a means of fostering development practices that will benefit economic, community and environmental health. This series will function as a resource for responsible growth in Knox County and the entire East Tennessee region. Building Healthy Communities will bring recommendations of zoning, codes, ordinances and policy to local elected officials.
As a steering committee member, Hallsdale-Powell has been on the forefront of this initiative by sponsoring workshops to communicate the philosophy of Low Impact Development (LID). It is the Districts belief that this partnership will serve as the foundation for a local shift to include more environmentally friendly building trends. This proactive approach will benefit the ratepayers by preserving the water quality and thereby reduce treatment cost.
