How To Read Your Meter

Hallsdale-Powell Utility District has different meters throughout the district. Below are two types of meters that you may see and how to read them.

How To Read Your Meter Diagram A

This is an example of a meter that indicates a flow of 2.0 gallon per minute. When the water stops running, the flow indicator will be blank and the flow rate will be zero.

Usage is recorded in hundreds of gallons. In this example, the present reading is 15683.2 which is 156 on the bill representing 15,600 gallons. Keep in mind this is not the usage for a month. The present reading minus the previous reading is the amount of water used during a billing cycle.

Below is what the billing would be for this example.

In this example, the present reading is 54 representing 5,400 gallons. The present reading minus the previous reading is the amount of water used during a billing cycle.
